Dr. Mary A. Hermann is a licensed attorney, a licensed professional counselor, a national certified counselor, a certified school counselor, and a Gallup trained strengths-based coach. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of the Cumberlands, she taught in the counseling programs at Loyola University New Orleans, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Mississippi State University (MSU), and the University of New Orleans. She has also taught in the women’s studies programs at MSU and VCU, and served as affiliate faculty in the VCU Institute for Women’s Health. Dr. Hermann’s research has focused on women’s experiences, maximizing well-being, and on legal and ethical issues in counseling. She has authored over 75 publications, provided over 200 presentations, and is the founding director of the Women’s Lifespan Development Research Lab (www.womensresearch.org). Dr. Hermann is past president of the Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (SACES) and co-chaired the American Counseling Association (ACA) Gender Equity Task Force, the ACA Diversity in Leadership Task Force, and the SACES Women’s Interest Network. She also served on the 2014 ACA Ethics Revision Task Force. She has earned numerous awards for her teaching, scholarship, and leadership, including being named a Fellow in the American Counseling Association. |
